Problem Definition:

Users report they are prompted to activate Microsoft Office on their virtual desktops.   The version of Microsoft Office is Microsoft Office 2010 Standard.



Some legacy desktop host images were configured with MAK (Multiple Activation Key) for activation.Under certain circumstances re-activation may be necessary.  This procedure updates the configuration to use KMS (Key Management Store) activation, which is now offered by CloudConnect and is more reliable on the CloudConnect platform.


This procedure will reconfigure Microsoft Office to activate using CloudConnect KMS service.  This procedure only needs to be run once for each affected Citrix Desktop Host.

Using your support account, access the customer organization's Desktop Host for the organization(s) experiencing the activation error.

Open an elevated command prompt.

Enter the following commands:

C:\Windows\system32>cd c:\program files (x86)\common files\Microsoft Shared\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform <ENTER>

ospprearm.exe <ENTER>

cd c:\program files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14 <ENTER>

cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:CKMX3 <ENTER>

cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:V7QKV-4XVVR-XYV4D-F7DFM-8R6BM <ENTER>

cscript ospp.vbs / <ENTER>

cscript ospp.vbs /act <ENTER>

Note that the activation key provided is the default KMS client key for MS Office, and is publically known, it is not a sensitive license key, so it may be given to customers.

Note that the activation key provided above is the default KMS client key for all Microsoft Office Standard 2010 installations.This key requires a KMS host private key to activate.The default KMS client keys provided in this CCT Article are published on Microsoft’s TechNet website:

For Office Professional Plus, the key which must be added (inpkey) is VYBBJ-TRJPB-QFQRF-QFT4D-H3GVB.

This fix does not apply to Microsoft Office 2013.
